Pros

Great people and culture. If things aren't great they at least make a real effort to make them better. Not just talk with the upper management. Real effort is made and no expense is too much for taking care of the people.

Cons

This company gets taken for granted. There are some people that abuse the things made available to them.

Clean office, new equipment, health benefits are good

False advertising! They lie about “Flexible Time off,” it is not flexible and they put hard limits on it, ESOP is a scam, you have to pay 5% of your salary to get a good esop pay out. Strange working hours for a construction company, 8am-5pm. If you need to leave early for doctors appointment they will not let you. VDC department micromanages their employees. The management are not happy people. 90% of your team will be new hires as they have an extremely high employee turn over. At my orientation they said they hired 220 people last year and only kept 12. The rest quit. Worst construction company I have ever worked for.

Close knit community - sense of camaraderie throughout the company

Cons

Middle management is useless. Sketchy environmental practices. ESOP program means that no one wants to spend company money on anything they don’t deem worth “money out of their own pocket”. Stingy and cut corners on legal and contractual obligations believing they will get a bigger bonus. ESOP fosters bias and a major conflict of interest. The culture is all smoke and mirrors.
