I wanted to work for Surya because I thought the company looked promising and exciting, and in many ways they are. The product is beautiful, the company is growing very fast, and the people who work there are very dedicated. However (a big however), since I started I have felt mistrustful of management and worry about my job, even though I know I’m good at what I do and have always been successful at other companies. There have been a number of people let go for reasons no one understands. The longer standing employees are definitely the favorites among management, and it seems they can do no wrong, even though they are in many cases the employees who do the least work. There are a couple of ‘whistle blowers’ within the team who are very vocal on the rumor circuit. All of things combined make my uneasy about working for Surya. I don’t trust management to behave in a professional manner, and I know many other people who work here feel similarly, particularly if they are not one of the old crew.
I can also say for certain that management asked employees to write positive reviews as damage control (after firing people who didn’t deserve to be fired). No one who works here would give Surya a five star review. My advice to management is that you reap what you sow. When you treat people with disrespect, ignore them, and control them through fear of losing their jobs, you will never be the successful company you strive to be. Those big successful companies that are so often mentioned in Surya company meetings, did not get where they are by being unfair. Management is coming across as being tyrannical.
