Pros

- mission-driven organization that wants to make a difference, serves medi-cal population - very good work life balance, predictable work schedule, minimal travel

Cons

- hierarchical culture, person with the longest tenure gets decision-making authority, does not value opinions of younger talent/staff - not innovative, reluctant to make the move to value-based healthcare, stuck in old healthcare business model - limited professional development opportunities, no clear path to promotion

Pros

Worked there for many years and worked with some great co-workers that also became close friends. Finally got fed up with all the negative corporate changes Sutter Health made to CPMC. CPMC was once a wonderful place to work and to be a nurse, but not really anymore I am sad to say. Sutter Health came in and took over CPMC and is a corporate health care profit minded behemoth.

Cons

CPMC pays the RN's very low compared to other San Francisco hospitals like UC and Kaiser, both of which offer better benefits and retirement pensions. Realizing this, CPMC attempted to increase pay by adding salary steps that required CPMC years of service only, instead of across the board pay increases, so only those working here for over 15 years really saw much improvement. Years ago before Sutter took over, CPMC was the top paying San Francisco hospital with great working conditions. It has really gone down hill in the last ten years....too bad!
