Pros

Professional growth with lots of "stretch" project opportunities.

Cons

Constant changeThere is a frequent pace of organizational change, which at times occurs without fully vetting processes or evaluating potential downstream impacts. For example, the return-to-office initiative was communicated before a comprehensive plan was in place, leading to some confusion. Additionally, ongoing leadership transitions have occasionally resulted in shifting or conflicting expectations.

Pros

Good clinical learning opportunities for people who are trying to get more hands on patient care experience in the OR. Upper management is nice.

Cons

I joined the CST program hopeful that I had found the perfect opportunity to advance my career in healthcare. However... The CST department is run by team members with no prior management experience and have a bullying approach to their training. They are very nice to you in the beginning, but shortly after it becomes a "prove yourself or get out" culture that is akin to pledging a fraternity or sorority. I felt that the treatment I received was unfair and straight up vicious at times. Instead of feeling supported, I felt disrespected, lied to, and almost as if they wanted me to fail. They claim they want to support you and see you succeed, but will not set you up for success. Instead, every mistake is irreversible in their eyes and another reason to lash out at you and gossip behind your back. If you are looking to learn from strong, compassionate, and inspiring leaders, you won't find it here. While I got to see some cool procedures, it was absolutely not worth the abuse and hostility I received.

Disorganized, busywork

Pros

Pay, pay, pay, pay, pay

Cons

The unit is completely dosorganized. The fish rots from the head as management is chasing pointless metrics, especially charting, over patient care. And patient care suffers greatly. Nurses are encouraged not to think ir speak up and management is there only to come down on you, not to help. One of the worst ICU’s ive worked at. Always short staffed.
