Benefits can be decent, in my department, opportunities for advancement were nearly non-existent.

At the first meeting with HR announcing my department's closure, they said this would be a great opportunity for those who commuted, because of hybrid/remote office jobs. Many people, including myself, applied for those type of jobs and did not get them, probably because they needed some employees during the transition. During the final months of my department, everyone except management were offered lower paying security guard jobs, while many I worked with (including myself) had no experience as security guards, but had back office experience/education. They threatened loss of severance if you did not take the job, and said it was a "comparable job". I disagreed and declined the position. back-office experience/education.
