Pros

Making 20% more than the regular, full time employees. A challenging, always changing work environment. Always have stories to tell, without releasing any identifying information, of course, meeting a variety of people and given the chance to learn many new skills and certify for many medical courses.

Cons

The work schedule ranging from graveyard, to early morning to swing shift takes a toll. Sick people are often grumpy. And asking for copays in the ER can be a challenge. People come to the ER because they have to usually, and often can't afford the copays. Some emotionally taxing things take place there as well, with accidents and deaths.

Pros

It's growing very quick, the learning experience was good. Bathe free coffee machines are great! They have coffee and water machines with ice in almost every floor for the reps convenience

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism in this company. Its not so much how qualified you are but how much the supervisor and manager like you. This gets boring and repetitive very fast. I honestly would not come back.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that SPS was not a fit for you. As you cited, we definitely try to promote a team environment here but there are times when the fit is not for everyone. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Carla Alegado

Pros

Worked there for many years and worked with some great co-workers that also became close friends. Finally got fed up with all the negative corporate changes Sutter Health made to CPMC. CPMC was once a wonderful place to work and to be a nurse, but not really anymore I am sad to say. Sutter Health came in and took over CPMC and is a corporate health care profit minded behemoth.

Cons

CPMC pays the RN's very low compared to other San Francisco hospitals like UC and Kaiser, both of which offer better benefits and retirement pensions. Realizing this, CPMC attempted to increase pay by adding salary steps that required CPMC years of service only, instead of across the board pay increases, so only those working here for over 15 years really saw much improvement. Years ago before Sutter took over, CPMC was the top paying San Francisco hospital with great working conditions. It has really gone down hill in the last ten years....too bad!
