Pros

Autonomy, potential for fast growth. You dictate how much you want to

Cons

Long hours are a must at the start if you wish to do well for yourself. The work can be grueling at the beginning and is relentless – if you don't disconnect from the job, it is all-encompassing. Effort and hours worked are loosely correlated to income in the beginning, at best. Earning an above average commission takes time and patience.

When explaining the job to any Sales Engineer candidates, we are extremely transparent that it is all about "building your own book of business" from the ground up. We do a tremendous amount of training (13 weeks of full time classroom training when a new Sales Engineer starts) and absolutely let people know it will be hard work and require both patience and perseverance. But we also then let them see how quickly they can achieve outstanding financial rewards. We think most Sales Engineers a year or two into the job are absolutely delighted with the fruits of their labor paying off. Jeff McDonald, Senior VP of Human Resources

Cons

The job requires relocation, and Fort Wayne is not a great town.

We get that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but Fort Wayne is being acknowledged over and over again in multiple on line ratings reports as a city that is growing, plugged into the future, provides the best opportunity to own a home or start a career, raise families, enjoy great schools and safe neighborhoods--- the list goes on and on. Check it out on our Careers page or do your own research and we think you'll find that there's a lot of very positive things happening here in Fort Wayne. Jeff McDonald, Senior VP of Human Resources
