Pros

at this time none none

Cons

They have the ability to invoke work from home during this crisis but have failed to do so. The number of employees far exceeds the recommended limits and while not everyone can work from home there a significant number who can reducing the numbers. They claim to care about employees and community but they have shown their true colors here! Money is their focus--not God or people!

We always appreciate when a team member shares their concerns directly with us. In this case, we have been following the direct recommendations of leading health experts and authorities - including the Centers for Disease Control and the Indiana Department of Health. Steps we have taken to help protect our employees include closing down to the public our on-site restaurant, coffee shop, public game area, health club, Academy of Music, canceling all outside events and activities, and canceling all internal large meetings. We have additionally ramped up intensive cleaning throughout our campus and have repurposed multiple employees into new roles whose jobs were impacted by some of our cancellations. In addition, we have specifically announced to all employees that they are welcome to speak with their manager or HR if they or a family member have unique health considerations and would like to discuss a work from home arrangement. So far, we have had multiple employees take us up on this offer and we have happily accommodated them. We take the health and well-being of our team members very seriously and are working hard to stay on top of this constantly evolving situation. We are grateful for the positive feedback we’ve received so far from many of our team members (and their significant others) including social media comments like "So grateful they are helping protect our staff!” and "THANK YOU!!!!! I’m so proud to be a part of this team!”. Jeff Ostermann, Chief People Officer

Pros

Free DVD rentals. A great amenity back in 2008. Cedar point trip once a year. Discount on food. The warehouse is air conditioned, but that's for the benefit for the merchandise. Not the employees.

Cons

Turn over rate is incredibly high. The reason could be 1 of 2 answers: 1. Most people that work in the warehouse are lazy and not hard workers. Or 2. Realize the common denominator is the company... No holiday bonus unless you are a white collar worker. Seriously. The owner doesn't think the work the warehouse employees worth any praise but sure as hell does for everyone else. The pay itself is enough to say it's no the lowest but only so they can say it's not the lowest. You will not be able to live off of what they pay. I worked full time and one my paychecks barely covered my rent. Do not expect to go home on time. Ever. They have a " you must clock in by 7:59 for you 8:00 shift or you are late" policy. Which is fine. But 3-4 times a week you will be "asked" (required) to stay late. I see the company responds to posts like that saying they ASK you to stay. They "ask" in the same manner as a cop "asking" to see your license when you are pulled over... see what happens if you say no. 70 hour work weeks holiday season. I understand why. There's 10x as many orders to fill and it's warehouse work. But when your White collar co workers get normal hours WITH a bonus it's a huge dip in morale.

Pros

On the outside, Sweetwater looks like a great company to work for. Most the employees are enjoyable to work with as are most of the clients/customers.

Cons

The biggest flaw with this company is the patronizing micromanagement. This company is quickly becoming behind the times and their high employee turnover is evidence. Sweetwater touts progression in it's publicity and "green" building, but the way they treat staff and their inflexibility is anything BUT progressive. Rigid schedule, inflexible hours, lack of vacation time, horrible benefits, micromanagement, etc. They treat sales staff as if we are "lucky" to be working there and are completely disrespectful of our time. Work-life balance is not encouraged in any way.
