Pros

A lot of friendly and helpful people. Good pay. Team oriented within departments. Lots of advancement opportunities for those who apply themselves and work hard. Great insurance options. Good benefits. Accrued PTO. Overall, a good company.

Cons

ECT shift is less than helpful, resulting in more work fixing issues in the morning. Same for Breakdown and IT. Driver pay is not competitive enough, resulting in high driver turnover. Recruiting is notorious for leaving out important details and often times outright lying to get a driver on board. Very difficult, if not impossible, to take time off in a management position. Even if you do get the time off, you're expected to still be available. Like most corporate companies, all too often decisions are made by someone sitting behind a desk, having no idea how operations actually function, resulting in excessive work and frustration for mid and low level departments. Have scaled down office staff drastically over the past year, resulting in many burned out and overworked employees, ultimately creating disgruntled employees with bad attitudes. Major disconnect between departments; they dont realize we are all on the same team.

Pros

What I learned I retained after taking a long time off from the trucking industry. While Swift would not have me, another company did hire me on and I picked it all up again in regards to my skills in regards to how to set myself up for backing etc. etc. They did get me to Canada at the very least and to other states I thought I would never see so got what I wanted out of them for starters. Good company truck maintenance and trailer maintenance and can always rely on service during a breakdown. Got my tuition reimbursement for staying the minimal time with Swift.

Cons

Compensation wasn't nearly enough to match the type of hours you put into the job. Then there was the shaving of miles based on whatever system they had in place. Also being governed at 60 mph was not good either as you made less at a by the mile rate. They are a starter company and a mill for truckers. I drive on my own terms now as a casual driver while maintaining a primary job vs. getting back into the industry full time and I like that setup for the most part.
