Pros

Benefits,Work from home, Work/life balance, Pay

Cons

Management team does not accept change. Environment created by management is toxic and competitive to the point that members within team do not trust each other. Everyone is on edge due to the impossible goals we are trying to meet. Management will use employees to reach their goals even if that means sacrificing their individual goals. Sales isn’t held responsible for the relationship management piece of this job, new business is expected and pushed to uphold this, in addition to meeting stringent processing and quality goals. Pass/Fail quality system is not good for anyone, ever (except maybe less work for the quality team itself). Send a complete case to quality, make one error on something that doesn’t even affect the policy, receive a 0% for the whole case.

Pros

I met some nice people along the way.

Cons

I used to enjoy working for Symetra but over the last few years there have been so many changes that have severely ruined the vibe. They keep hiring or promoting people (including managers, directors, upper management) that do not have the right experience and lack of the right education. This, I found has led to a lot of corner cutting and bad decision making. Some of these bad decisions were just plain unethical. I want no part of it!

Pros

Salary was decent but business processes archaic

Cons

This company has eliminated so many long standing employees and replaced them with recent community college graduates. Management is unethical.
