We appreciate the positive review. Nearly all of our employees have the option to work remotely. We are continually breaking down silos when it comes to different lines of business, but this was a nice reminder that there are some who feel there is still work that needs to be done.

It’s nice to see you thought so highly of your work peers. Having great co-workers really can make a huge difference in our work experience. As Symetra continues to rapidly grow, we are excited to increase staffing to service our ever expanding book of business. When employees feel overloaded, our hope is that they make it known with their manager and/or HR Business Partner.

Pros

The Good: Executive leadership actually cares and listens. Insurance products are easy to "sell" because of they actually live up to their value propositions. Incredible Customer Service so one can focus on selling and not putting out fires. Multi-person approach, meaning you will not be left to fend for yourself throughout the entire sales process, i.e. quote specialist helps organize requests for proposals, manager and team help you review opportunities, stop loss partners help you get in the door at insurance firms, implementation process is managed by implementation manager after sales person submits the sold case notification. Back to focusing on selling.

Cons

The Bad: The company provides the same great service for employers from the small market, mid-market, to large market; therefore, Symetra limits going after smaller groups with less premium. Their underwriting department is picky. The job requires a decent amount of travel (out of state for most reps) and remote work making it a lonely job at times. The Ugly: Who the heck is Symetra? You will have to be memorable because your broker partners will forget your company's name. Prospects often choose a competitor instead of Symetra because their brand name isn't big enough.

Thank you for this detailed five-star review. Our customer service and sales support teams do an amazing job. Symetra still has work to do to improve our brand recognition in the market, but we’ve seen some significant progress in that area, as evidenced by 10% increase in brand awareness according to a brand study done earlier this year. I appreciate the feedback and suggestion regarding the cadence of national sales updates and will incorporate that in 2023.
