Pros

Location is decent. There are some decent people there.

Cons

No on-boarding, barely any feedback on how you're doing. People keep getting promoted into management positions and have zero leadership skills. Bullying! Cannot trust HR to have your back. Working you with un-communicated expectations. If you ask questions, you're looked down upon and they think you don't know your job. Turn over is ridiculous in the Retirement Division yet everyone is afraid to voice their concerns for fear of being the next to go. Do as I say, not as I do mentality. If you're not IN, you're out of there if they don't like you. It's high school all over again. The good, the bad, the cliques, everything. Pay was not competitive.

Pros

- downtown Bellevue location (ideal for shopping) - office is nice - 401K matching

Cons

Turnover in Finance is ridiculously high, and it seemed to have gotten worse in recent years. At least 70% of people in Finance were hired within the last two years. Hard work & being loyal team player won’t get you far. Pay is low and expectations are unreasonable. Management will do what it takes to protect their friends and promote them even if they are not qualified for jobs. Once you become a target of management, they will make your work life miserable. Finance department is a revolving door – smart employees leave within a year once they figure out quickly that this place is where you end your career.

Pros

Great ceo, benefits and pto are good. Pay is decent. Great bonuses.

Cons

You have to FIGHT to keep your job. You may be a good employee and show up everyday, however, their quality scoring system is horrible!! They set you up to fail, it’s like they want you to fail! Management doesn’t care and they do NOT seem to get it. Sure, the bonuses can be great, but they don’t matter if you don’t have a job later on due to bad quality and their terrible quality program.

I’m sorry to read that you felt this way about your time with us. Symetra aims to empower its employees, not to set them up for failure. I understand that case manager work can be stressful. The quality scoring system you mention is thorough, but it’s intended to help us meet customer and/or compliance regulations.
