Pros

I have been at Syndio for 2.5 years and over that time have witnessed growth and speed bumps. The north star of every day always comes back to the work that myself and colleagues are engaged in -- closing pay gaps and putting hundreds of millions of dollars back into the pockets of people that otherwise were underpaid due to race, gender, or inconsistently applied pay and opportunity practices. Knowing that at the end of the day, I am helping organizations across the globe close pay gaps is tremendously gratifying . Like any company, employees and leaders grow together and I have witnessed a new found energy of leaders digging in and listening to customers for any and all feedback as well setting up feedback sessions to hear from employees across the organization. We have very high customer devotion (NPS is one of the best in the industry) and know our product and services are cutting edge. We have observed other companies copy what we have put out into the market, which is a good sign that we are building what people want and the leader in the marketplace. The people at Syndio all rally around the mission and leaders are leaning in and cultivating strong feedback loops that are essential for continued growth.

Cons

We have a big mission and it is easy to get distracted at times on shiny new objects. Focus is key to success.

Pros

The mission and product are amazing. Who wouldn’t get behind pay and opportunity equity? So it’s a cool opportunity to work for a company that aligns with your values. Benefits are good, and the pay is pretty decent. But believe me, you pay for it in other ways.

Cons

Honestly, the review from March 29, 2024 couldn’t have said it better. The leadership is so unstable and it causes a really toxic culture throughout the company. They set completely unrealistic goals, they move the target every week, and they never seem to know how to address the ACTUAL problems in the company strategy. They just don’t know what they’re doing. They tout the fact that they focus on “potential” and transferrable skills vs experience in that exact role. But when you’re talking about executive level roles at a startup that’s struggling to grow, you need experience. You can’t have a C-suite full of people that have never done their job before. And whenever they hire experienced leaders, those people don’t last long because they challenge the existing leaders and rock the boat. Overall, the culture is incredibly toxic. And you better not count on HR to do anything about it or have your back. HR is unfortunately just a pawn in the CEO’s game at this point. While it’s unfortunate to say because the product is so great, I would never recommend working here.

Thank you for your feedback. At Syndio, we value Candor, Trust, and Relentless Pursuit, and I appreciate your perspective to help us improve. While some leaders may have taken on new roles without direct prior experience, our strategy early on was to leverage transferrable skills and industry knowledge to help us create a new category. With these leaders in place, we achieved significant milestones, including selling to large enterprises, building a diverse customer base, and achieving an NPS of 83 with best-in-class customer retention. Currently, every functional leader has prior experience in their role, and we’re committed to bringing in experienced talent across all functions to further strengthen our team. We also continuously gather and act upon feedback from our team to improve our employee’s experience. We wish you success in your future endeavors. Maria Colacurcio, CEO

A Cautionary Tale

Pros

Everyone will agree that the mission of Syndio and the pay equity that they've helped their clients achieve in the past few years is incredible and something anyone would want to help contribute to. The mission and the impact are undeniable.

Cons

One of the most glaring issues plaguing Syndio is the constant shifting of goals and priorities at the hand of leadership, which has created a sense of instability and confusion among employees. This lack of consistency has not only hindered productivity but has also bred resentment and disillusionment among the workforce. The majority of folks at Syndio don't like working there but are stuck because the compensation is hard to beat. Perhaps most troubling is the toxic environment that has taken root within Syndio, fueled by the leadership team's lack of experience, indecisiveness and inability to address underlying issues. Disagreements, issues and conflicts are swept under the rug, allowing resentment to fester and ultimately poison the workplace atmosphere. Instead of fostering collaboration and camaraderie, the leadership's failure to confront these issues head-on has only served to exacerbate tensions and create an intense sense of frustration and stress. The company is FULL of great people with huge brains and honest intentions but the lack of a seasoned leadership team or an HR leader who represents the employees has created a company you do not want to work for. I repeat - - - you do not want to work here. Unless you really do and in that case good luck.
