Pros

Money wast that bad. Teams in IT worked together really efficiently.

Cons

New IT directors and Senior Vice President of Global Infrastructure, Network, and Cloud Technology Operations are either new to managing/directing large teams of "Worldwide Systems and Infrastructure Support Engineers", or they're simply power hungry NON Infrastuctue Technical types that insist on doing it "MY WAY!" Regardless of outcome. Without any forethought. Without Understanding the "Big Picture". Our team had top notch SMEs around the globe, all working together very efficiently. We worked 50-60 hrs a week, and were pretty much ok with that. We in the US alternated 12 hour oncall shifts daily and the APAC and EU teams did the same or close to it. It took this team YEARS to develop that model, and it worked well for everyone, including the Company itself. No fatigued workers. Committed workers. Go the extra mile workers. New mgmt decided to change that. To a model Not in any way effective for global 24x7 technical support Teams where oncall phones ring 15-20 times a day at any and every hour. Each of ourteam member worldwide would Now work 1 full week of oncall for 24 hours a day. 168 hours in one week, of which we would only be "Allowed" to put 40 hours on our timesheets. Yes we were salaried. But HEY! no oncall for the next 5 weeks! Absurd! Those weeks while oncall, we were expected to work our normal workload, be oncall, then cover the rest of the night handling a growing number of oncall calls. Then do it all over... for 7 days straight. We were then expected to be Technical Troubleshooting Experts and Sharp Decision Makers while working with little to no sleep for days at a time. I feel for the team(s) if its still run this way. My hope is that a little common sense was or will be reintroduced. They then preach "Work Life Balance" which is farking insulting. This from a company that had a Hacking Attack that their Cyber-Security team knew nothing about for FIVE years. Look it up in your favorite browser: Syniverse hack.
