Pros

Training is extensive and very good, which sets you up to succeed. Very broad product line, you can pretty much get anything for your customer that they need. Company is known in the restaurant/hotel business. Lots of support for sales staff and continued education on new and existing products.

Cons

You work a LOT. This job is most ideal for a single person who wants to hustle hard and make money. Ideally, you are positioned as your clients' go-to person, and in the restaurant business that means you are fielding a lot of issues, even those that are not your fault. So if a chef has a problem at midnight on a Saturday, you take the call and solve the problem. Once I had kids this lifestyle was not the one for me.

Make your own schedule, meet new customers and form good relationship with them. Can meet others that work there that are helpful.

Cons

You are working more than 40 hours a week. Not given days off and expected to be available 24/7. Always trying to get customers to pay their bills.

Pros

Unlimited earning potential. Able to open new accounts where commissions are earned based on sale growth and new business. Uses Sales Force CRM to track plans, pipelines, goals and prospects. Full commission position with a small base pay and guaranteed floor payment.

Cons

Extremely competitive market. Many things are out of the MA's control such as out of stock items, late deliveries, and customer credit lines. Customer loyalty is always tested since the competition is always knocking on the customer's door offering better pricing and incentives.
