Pros

- Decent pay for under 21

Cons

- The worst management I have ever experienced. Unorganised and unhelpful. - Always expected everyone to know what they are doing despite not being shown how to carry out certain tasks, then being annoyed when it’s done wrong. - Always made us leave the store late, I usually had closing shifts so would leave at 7pm. Never once did I leave on time, would often find I’ve clocked out waiting up to 10 minutes for managers to finish up, which adds up as at least a minimum an hour of unpaid time if you always have closing shifts. Then had the spite to tell us we were only allowed to clock out before getting our belongings. - Was given a letter saying I had 4 weeks to improve or my contract would come to an end. When I asked for my performance reviews, they refused to give them to me because of ‘data protection’ when I literally signed them myself. How on earth was I meant to improve if no one would tell me how?

Pros

I worked across two stores and found management and other staff pleasant to work alongside. Never really had any issues. Highly manageable for students, The core store workload fits well around a university schedule, making it easy to balance studying and working.

Cons

Dual-location transfers for students are completely dependent on management discretion. I successfully split my time between two branches for years, but a change in management instantly ended this arrangement, leaving me without shifts. Declining work culture (2022–2023 vs. later) The company used to be a great place to work, but conditions gradually deteriorated. Management introduced much stricter performance targets, which significantly increased daily workload and stress levels.
