Horrible work

Pros

There are good benefits such as bonuses, healthcare, etc. It's a big company so there is money to go around. They allow you to have travel cards, so you don't have to use your own money out of pocket for business travel.

Cons

Management doesn't understand a thing you're supposed to be doing. They assign you work outside your expertise, and it's highly disorganized with communication. The program manager talks to customer, but doesn't relay the info back to the engineers, so we don't know what we need to build. The people are not encouraged to do their job. The less work they get, the better. People tend to dump work on others to avoid doing the work themselves.

Continuous improvement is very slow!

Pros

Overall, the company is a very good place to work. Focused on growth.

Cons

TE Oceanside will probably be a great place to work in about 2 years. Improvements are taking far too long and employee morale is down due to inequities, lack of management follow-through and lack of resources. Management has expectations of this location as if they had all of tools and resources that other TE locations have.

Pros

Good benefits (but average for a big corporation) Good exposure to co-workers from many different countries. Interesting work if you are lucky enough to get in to the right group, or can make friends with influential managers. Many co-workers care about the job they do. Finally realized Harrisburg offices were huge dumps and began remodeling them. Results are much nicer office space.

Cons

Small town Pennsylvania is not the center of the universe like many think. Below average salaries for a large company. Never enough people in IT to get the job done. Senior management outsources work but does not have to deal with the poor results. They make the big decisions, then walk away. Remaining employees are left to deal with these new headaches in addition to their own jobs. Outsourcing company uses people on a different continent who can't communicate in understandable English. Work load is too high and projects are rarely refused. You are being judged at all times. Lots of cost cutting. I'm sure senior management will cut medical benefits the first chance they get, and then brag to Wall Street about good financial results.
