Pros
I worked for TEKsystems as my first job out of college starting my professional career. The days were very long and the office was very cliquey. The work itself was a lot of fun, I enjoyed meeting with candidates and had high spread. I left because of the culture. I specifically remember two occasions that just put me over the edge, the first time I was told by my account manager that I couldn't leave at 5:00 PM because I didn't have children. At this company you may receive a flex schedule, but my location really only favored parents. The other time, our DBO forced us to stay in the office until 7:30 at night because we had an executive visitor that was using one of our office spaces and the DBO wanted to prove a point that our specific location worked long hours. What that really did was anger and discourage everyone. This is a very hard company to have a work/life balance, but you also have the ability to make good money. The office I worked at has very high turnover, I made a lot of great friends, but none of them still work there and those connections that do have messaged me about job opportunities elsewhere. Now I am at a company that provides a higher salary, flex work hours and a career path other than Account Management/Recruiter. The grass can be greener on the other side is my advice.
Cons
Very hard to have a work/life balance and it seems the work never stops. Candidates were calling me at 10:00 at night for jobs. Also, you are taught a very niche skill set, once you are there for a few years, you only have work experience that is relevant in Talent Acquisition and Staffing in most cases, some offices are larger and provide more corporate like roles such as HR, legal, ect.
