Outstanding; How well you do career/financially is totally up to how much you are willing to do to get to the next steps
Pros
My dirty little secret was to request only short term gigs. They'd last between 4 months to a year. Every time I was placed at a different company I learned more applications, hardware and ways of doing business. TEK works with the best companies! - they look great on your resume. AND, with every move I made, I got a pay raise. What's not to like?! I was certified, but to earn more money I needed a little more certification. With it, TEK made it worth my while. They value your credentials as well as the person you are. The Reps are wonderful people; always sunny and they work hard for you - and they even hand-deliver your paycheck as yet another way to keep in touch with you. It was my favorite job ever. Will go back.
Cons
In my case, requesting short term jobs was perfect because if I didn't like the job I knew it wouldn't last forever. I did count the days at a few jobs. But, the Reps do a good job of preparing you and you do interview with your boss-to-be (even though you 'have' the job) it's yours to lose. The benefits, or lack thereof, sucked. The health insurance was too pricey as was the rest. As a 'consultant', you didn't earn vacation or paid time off. Consultant was a title but I received a paycheck from TEKsystems.
