Pros

Really great people doing really important things for some of the most important people in our society - teachers. It can be heartwarming and rewarding to know you're making a real difference in those people's lives. It's really easy to get on board with the mission of TIAA, it's a fantastic company. This job is also a great entry point into the company.

Cons

The job isn't particularly hard, but answering phone calls all day can be tedious and monotonous and you're generally obligated to stay in this role for 18 months. Also, your time is tracked extremely closely. Every minute of your shift is accounted for and factored into your performance review. Because of this, and your obligation to answer a call when it comes in regardless of how long it may take and how long you have until the end of your shift, it can be extremely difficult to leave on time at the end of the day, for lunch, or even for a doctors appointment. The pay for this position is rather low considering the requirements for the job and the nature of it. You can also run into some pretty tough conversations with people that can be heartbreaking and really ruin your day.
