Great coworkers. You meet very interesting customers.

Cons

Managers are rude. We never have enough associates to work. Managers are horrible at making the schedules.

Pros

Occasional Double Employee discount (20%) Recent raise for all minimum wage employees to $9 per hour Managers sometimes bring food for all employees in the break room Able to trade hours with other associates

Cons

Must request off THREE weeks in advance 4 hours a week given to many employees at my location. Refusal to give more hours yet still hiring more associates Employees are not notified of schedule changes Managers are condescending and sometimes rude Managers refuse to train lower level employees in other departments (after 4 months of being employed there and asking various times to be trained, I have been told continuously I will be trained in other departments "soon" without any follow up) If working till closing, all employees (after punching out) must stay an estimate of 10-15 minutes extra before being allowed to leave while the manager closes the store. Toy department is a constant mess and toys are found across the store, separated from their packaging Constantly pushing TJX credit card Never received 90 day review promised upon being hired

Pros

A few select weekends of the year the employee discount is raised from 10% off to 20% off. Decent deals on name brand merchandise.

Cons

Very little upward mobility. They say there is but there is not. Train employees in just one area, but throw them into other areas they're not trained in (my coworkers complained of this) Merit is noticed, but not rewarded. Instead, it is taken advantage of so that you end up doing more work than your slacking coworkers. Upper management takes advantage of employees initial willingness to please (with call ins especially). Will give you just up to the cut off for full time hours so that you are not full time. Catty and gossipy culture. The managers too (so your information is not safe with them from other employees). Multiple managers that do not coordinate with each other well. Sometimes you're not sure which rules to follow. Employees come and go like a revolving door.
