Pros

TJ Maxx offered flexible hours for a part time worker. This was great for me since I was also a full time college student.

Cons

The customers could be rude, the pay was not the best and the store often became cluttered since there were so many odd items.

Key Carrier

Pros

Holidays off. Opportunities for advancement. Flexible hours. Flexible schedule. Weekly pay check. Ability to get time off. Ability to take leave of absence. Ability to switch shifts. Laid back dress code.

Cons

High stress. Low pay. Not enough communication. Never enough coverage scheduled. Discount is only 10%. Verbal abuse and threats from shoplifters. It is hard to approach specific managers. You pretty much hit the ceiling after becoming a Key Carrier because they will only promote you to management if you transfer out to another store, yet the current managers are not expected to ever transfer out.
