Local management has a significant influence on your success and trajectory. - Performance can feel subjective — accounts may be reassigned without clear reasoning or data, sometimes based on hearsay or internal politics rather than merit. - Constructive feedback and development are often lacking; decisions that directly impact compensation (like account moves) may come without warning, especially toward year-end. - A fear-based management culture can show up — emotional reactions from leadership may go unchecked, with little accountability or follow-up. - Internal relationships carry significant weight. Social involvement (happy hours, networking with reps/MFGs) often outweighs tenure or performance regarding recognition and protection. - Office culture can be uncomfortable at times. It’s not unusual to hear managers or employees speaking loudly and negatively about current or former coworkers. This behavior is often ignored or normalized by others.

Management is lazy and talkative. Expects you to do your own work and the work of others if other people are feeling too lazy to do their jobs. My previous manager volunteered us for everyone's job. Definitely did not give good reviews based on hard work but whether he liked you or not. Unfortunately, it was obvious favoritism towards certain genders was evident. A lot of opinions and great ideas go through one ear and out the other so its a deal with it or never enough kind of environment. My manager would talk about how he would gladly throw you under the bus to protect himself. Hard to move upwards if you are not a favorite or brown nosing. Easy to move sideways until you are content with the same thing every day.
