The more things change ... the more they stay the same
Pros
TVA was my first job after graduation. The work environment was professional, exciting, and at times, overwhelming. Pros include the facilities (excellent office environments), professionalism of the workforce, work/life balance. Pay was first rate as were the benefits. Really cute administrative assistants too.
Cons
Two really jump out. One ... there was no on boarding process. I had no idea how to navigate TVA, understand my job (is there a workflow?), information to keep up with, or what the job career path looked like? Just a black hole. I learned by doing ... but the process could have been sped up considerably with even ONE DAY of training. Two ... I loved working at TVA but ultimately left after 4 years. The threats of a RIF every few months was just overwhelming. I could not buy a house or make an investment in the community due to the constant threat of being laid off as many of my friends were. (One couple, both recent grads, bought a house ... ultimately declared bankruptcy.) This is just a job killer ... literally.
