Pros

By and large, low pressure. most work 9 to 5 days - don't get in the way of the door at the end of the day (assuming you like that kind of job).

Cons

Pay was average (goes with low pressure). Organization was VERY hierarchical. At the time former COO was no brain surgeon, but understand it is better managed now, despite layoffs to address over expansion. Systems were lacking in a big way.

Pros

They give employees a great discount on clothes

Cons

There is very poor communication from the top on down. Work schedules change constantly, and store mgmt doesn't want to hear you're not available to come in if you weren't scheduled that day. There is too much focus on making customers open Talbots charge cards, running monthly "shopping parties" to entice customers to buy more than they want. Lack of respect for employees.

Pros

Employees receive a generous discount on Talbots clothing.

Cons

If you are an "older" woman, over 50, and just starting in retail, it is very unlikely that you will be able to move up within the company.
