Pros
Working as a recruiter is fulfilling when you are able to connect people with meaningful work. There are days when we make these connections and our candidate is overjoyed. The hours are acceptable and if you are able to obtain a staff position there is plenty of paid time off.
Cons
Working in the Managed Service Provider (MSP) side of the business can be very frustrating. Many companies use the model to reach a broad number of candidates in the hopes of obtaining talent at a lower rate than they would be able to recruiting on their own. We have many disgruntled candidates who quit their jobs prematurely and that can be frustrating because it often falls back on the recruiters when the system is to blame. Advancement is advertised when you start the position but it is difficult to obtain. This is a comfortable job but I have bigger aspirations.
