Pros

Employed almost 2 years with Talkiatry and have been very pleased with administrative and operations support as well as responsiveness to concerns and suggestions. Support staff is also exceptional, including IT support. After practicing in multiple settings including inpatient and outpatient for 32 years have enjoyed this practice the most. Talkiatry allows me the ability to connect with patients and enjoy minimal administrative and non-clinical duties. This company promotes and allows for work-life balance in a way I have not previously experienced. Accepted this position at the end of the COVID pandemic to allow for at home telemedicine care for patients. Have been able to select the types of patients I enjoy treating as well as create the schedule that works best for me. The communication at Talkiatry is exceptional. Have been able to directly interact with senior management, all of whom are extremely approachable. Have felt valued as a practitioner and employee from hire date to present. The opportunities to challenge myself as a clinician are present daily.

Cons

As a telemedicine psychiatrist there is limited interaction with others in person, though that is typical of psychiatry in general.

Pros

It seems like everyone’s priority is to provide good patient care. As a physician, you are allowed to practice medicine in your style and are given more than enough time per patient to give thorough treatment. It’s a fast growing company so you have to be comfortable with growth and some change but there is lots of admin support for clinical issues, technical issues, scheduling issues, etc. I also like that my income is based on how much I want to work which allows for me to have good work life balance but also able to plan for times when I needed more income. Management and executive officers are supportive and approachable.

Cons

There are scribe services but I would like more AI tools to make documentation more efficient

Great Place to Work

Pros

Lots of flexibility - can set your own hours, patient preferences, and work from anywhere Great support staff Transparency with structured pay Numerous educational opportunities (case conferences, grand rounds, ABPN article discussions, etc) Holidays off with ample PTO (including provider coverage) Strong team leadership, particularly the wonderful Dr Frank

Cons

As with a true private practice model, compensation for holidays and while on PTO is very low, and monthly pay can vary significantly depending upon the number of days worked but it does tend to average out over time
