Pros

Amazing technology, teamwork on deals all the way up to the CEO, Technical support and capabilities are second to none. Best pay plan I've seen in over 20 years of IT sales. It's not even close. Lastly, all employees get stock and the company seems genuinely happy about sharing the wealth. It's a very ethical and unselfish work culture. If you stretch the truth, make secret deals or promises that cannot be delivered on, or you lie to get what you think is a good sale, out will not last here. Our founder and CEO care more about you and your family than any leaders I've ever met!

Cons

I don't really have any cons. I'll say this... It's fast paced. A lot is given, so a lot is expected. If you cannot be disciplined working remotely, you will be challenged. Expenses are reimbursed as there are no corporate charge cards. Most of these are wanting to know your strengths and weaknesses before seeking employment with Tanium. It's a solid company and I have zero complaints!

Toxic culture

Pros

Starting Salaries are really good. Good medical benefits at a good price. Some exceedingly smart people work here.

Cons

Culture has become very toxic over the last several years. Company used to pride itself on allowing full remote and people bought houses far away from any office because of it. New CEO came in and suddenly it’s a change to must be in office several days a week or your gone. There are constant surprise layoffs happening. One day a team is there and the next suddenly gone with no understanding why. An extreme good ol’ boy culture thrives at Tanium and if you’re not in the clique then you’re nothing. Raises are low, 491k is abysmal and the RSUs are a HUGE tax burden on you every year but not worth the paper they are printed on. Tanium used to be a great company new leadership has brought it down.

Pros

There are a lot of incredibly smart and driven people at Tanium. The company tackles interesting problems in cybersecurity, and when you're able to focus, the work can be rewarding. Compensation is decent, and you get free lunch in the office. The hybrid work policy sounds flexible—at first.

Cons

Unfortunately, much of what you're sold during the interview process doesn’t hold up. I was told that as long as I was meeting expectations and attending mandatory in-person meetings, there was no strict requirement to be in the office a certain number of days each week. That promise was quietly reversed—since February, employees have been expected to badge in at least twice a week, and leadership is now threatening to withhold stock refreshes from those who don’t comply, regardless of performance. The in-office experience isn’t great either: limited quiet spaces, harsh fluorescent lighting, low-quality monitors, and a general environment that’s not very conducive to focus. The free lunch is appreciated, but it’s not anything to get excited about. Overall, I get more done at home without the distractions. Training also leaves a lot to be desired—especially for new hires who are expected to ramp up quickly without sufficient support. Additionally, Customer Success is often treated as an afterthought. We’re excluded from major events like SKO and Converge (hosted at Universal Studios with customers), and not eligible for the Sales Club trip. It’s clear that Sales is prioritized, and other departments don’t get the same recognition or investment.
