Pros

They foster a fast, fun, friendly culture (geared towards younger professionals whom have not worked in Corporate America or any other company) The Brand recognition is amazing Great resume builder if you can endure the politics

Cons

Diverse candidates whom have experience are not as valued as individuals who "grew up in Target". The company likes to recruit recent college graduates so they can "mold" them into the Target culture but if you have experience and success from another company, it is harder to be "molded" and can sometimes be held against you and "perceived" as not being a good fit for Target. Their culture is very young and sometimes lack professional maturity just due to lack of time spent in Corporate America. In certain postions, you are expected to know your job within the first few weeks due to their "self-proclaimed top notch" training but the training lacks content around the actual position you hold. You are given the tools but not told when and how to use them in the current processes which often tie back to your position. Although you are taught in training it is ok to make mistakes, there is little forgiveness for mistakes made at least amongst diverse candidates. This yields high turnover for diverse candidates within Target. Target is well known for not being able to retain diverse talent and it is something the company continues to struggle with year over year. For most individuals, the pros can and often will outweigh the cons but you have to ask a lot of questions to ensure the position and the company is a good fit for your career growth. Dont be fooled by the "glam" because it is Target. Make sure you are making the right decision before you consider taking a position with them. All experiences are not bad but just to be sure you know what you are getting into before you begin to work with them.
