Pros

Great team environment. Great people, friendly, helpful. Can be a fun place to work. Discounts, some benefits, flexible schedule. You can work outrageous hours or very little hours. All depends on how much you want to work.

Cons

Have been working at Target for over 3 years and it has steadily gone downhill with the credit card hacking in December bringing on even more of the downward spiral. The pressure to push red cards is ridiculous. Hard to do with a straight face when we know the hacking continues to happen over and over again. They continue to put fresh out of college 22-25 year olds in positions of power. They may know metrics and the latest PowerPoint program, everything about sales forecasts and profit and loss but their people skills are shameful. Not a personal issue just a lack of life experience. It has been a constant battle of do more with less. Less people on a team, less equipment to do a job and less time to do it in. I am sure that corporate Target thinks they are safe from the fate of Sears, Penny's, Kmart but those of us in the trenches can see it unraveling and their standards continuing to drop.

Great culture turned very, very bad.

Pros

Ability to advance career, good benefits and some of the best pay in retail.

Cons

Corporate leadership changes have been so immense that it truly feels like the company has no idea what's doing. This shows itself all the way down to the store level as processes change daily with little to no communication. Everyone is continuously challenged to do more and more but there is no innovation applied to make processes easier. What was once a cutting edge retailer with a great culture to work within has become an aged giant no one wants to deal with.

Not a leader

Pros

Good benefits. Good discounts. Free food.

Cons

Horrible managers. Horrible hours. You are treated like a slave instead of a leader. The executive team leaders sit im an office all day, while the team leaders run the store. I saw the store team leader once per week if i was lucky.
