Pros

Target had a really well-defined brand and a Senior Leadership that was excited to always be moving the needle. There were many opportunities for career advancement for those that were bright and ambitious. I can really say that I learned a lot about business, smart creative and negotiating a complex socio-political dynamic.

Cons

Many of the truly great senior leaders are now gone and the brand seems to be going through something of identity crisis. As it's size increases, so does the bastian of bureaucracy. Ineffectual box-checkers are sometimes allowed to languish.

Pros

Most of the Team Leads care about you. Free lunch every now and then when the store is making sales. Pay is slightly higher than your average retail by 25-50 cents. Great job for students who cannot work 40 hours a week.

Cons

They expect you to be available every day, but only schedule you for 2-3 days a week. The only time you will get more than 7 hours and 15 minutes a day is during Black Friday and Christmas. They hire too many employees on purpose. It is so that they can call people in to work if someone calls out. You are starved for work hours so when they ask if you can come in of course you will say yes.

Pros

• Decent pay for entry level designers. • Exposure to different aspects of business through cross-functional team meetings. • A recognized name for your resume.

Cons

• Corporate culture revolves around superficial gossip, fitting in, and kissing ass. • Not a results-oriented environment, meaning your work will not be able to speak for itself. • Interest in other aspects or divisions at the company is discouraged as being outside of your "area of expertise" aka "AOE". • You have to constantly communicate with absurd, buzz-word language.
