Pros

Co-workers were the best part of working at target. Made my shifts go by faster and things easier.

Cons

Manager wasn't that great, old manager was better. The new manager cut my hours down whenever I "retaliated" back, ex. Didn't (couldn't) work the hours out of my availability, got back from a week APPROVED vacay, etc. She was very petty, took me out of SHIP after I've been working in it as a "permanent" member just because I didn't did what she liked. HR wasn't any help, sometime even like to mock or talk about others team member/ TL. Loves talking about diversity but blatant racism's are shown by TLs. There was a TL who was literally a perv, some old mans that should be getting a big boy job (not working at target for $16) talking about getting with underage girls. Don't even know how some became TL considering their attitude and "hard work". Team members did more work than some of the TLS. TLS (aside from fulifillment TL) loveeeesss walking around the store with their Starbucks drinks during rush hours. Aside from the great coworkers, management and everyone else above pretty much suck, of course some TL were nice but you can count them all in one hand :/ NOT TO METION RUSH HOURS ARE HELL, no backs ups, getting yell at for going in the red zone, and CUSTOMER ASKING FOR HELP WHEN YOUR CART IS RED ;( SOMETIME EVEN YELLING AT YOU FOR THE HOLDUP WITH THE CHECK LANE/WAITING IN LINE.

Pros

- Bottom barrel team members are usually chill - Sometimes get free food in the break room (have to first check if it's expired or has been sitting uncovered for more than a day) - Decent employee discount, insurance, and 401k match

Cons

- Commuter benefits are only as good as the area you live in (no subway/train/bus = no commuter benefits) - Everyone in team lead positions and above lack empathy and don't really treat subordinates like people - Guild program is misleading, only distribution center members and team leads and higher have reimbursement for their chosen school - Increasingly impossible metric goals, and only executive level employees get any bonuses from wage workers having good metrics - Many locations aren't actually LGBTQ+/minority friendly for employees, despite the annual ethics training - Lots of OSHA violations that don't get addressed until days/weeks later (blocked fire exits, excessive flatbeds and pallets on the sales floor, etc) - Not many opportunities for career growth, team leads and executive team leads are usually transfers from other locations - Not enough pay after Christmas, filing for unemployment and food stamps due to severe hour cuts is a must - Upper management will consider informal WAV "training" as WAV certification in place of actually being WAV certified - "Raises" are less than $0.50, can be as low as a single penny

Pros

- Great managing non-typical schedules - Great company culture - Provides great necessary trainings

Cons

- If you are ‘in the lineup’ for promotion, they will have you do the work of that promotion for weeks, months, years on end without promoting you and without paying you for that work, just to tell you that ‘I have to see some leadership out of you for you to get this position’ - Leadership is almost always non-qualified - You can never meet the hours you want to hit - Forced to do tasks that were not in job description (i.e. other departments work, cleaning up after other people in other departments that choose to not clean up after themselves) - Statistics of individual stores put ahead of actual completion of work, (i.e. as long as the numbers look good who cares if the work isn’t done) - Burnout comes very easily with this company - Prefer to hire outside than to promote inside
