Pros

They have great concepts of how to work as a team and treat each other with respect and fairness

Cons

The great concepts mentioned above are not always practiced, mainly due to the maturity level of senior management

Pros

Easy job to get, you don't have to work hard, as they hate to fire people. Starting pay is a little(very little) better than similar retailers in the same location. You aren't expected to know more than where to find things, and where to put things.

Cons

Hardworkers are kept where they are, Target sees them as too vital to risk promoting and doing a poor job in a different position. They would rather hire from outside, and find someone through trial and error. If sales are slow, hours are cut. At times you may be the only person on the sales floor. When closing the store, the managers may make you stay 2-3 hours after your shift(1-2am sometimes). Pay raises are much smaller than similar retailers, so even though you start higher, after a year or two you are making less than you would have.
