Pros

The work environment included a combination of supportive colleagues and others whose professionalism was inconsistent. Overall, it was manageable for an entry-level position and offered the opportunity to work with individuals of varying ages. Employees seeking to remain beyond the seasonal period were expected to demonstrate strong performance metrics, flexibility in scheduling, and a commitment to long-term employment. Breaks were structured according to shift length: a 5-hour shift included one 15-minute break, a 6-hour shift included one 15-minute and one 30-minute break, and an 8-hour shift included two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute break.

Cons

There was a persistent lack of effective communication and limited flexibility in scheduling. Shifts were frequently assigned with minimal notice and often outside of my stated availability. Addressing these concerns required approximately two weeks and multiple escalations, including conversations with leadership and Human Resources. Workload expectations were frequently unrealistic, contributing to employee burnout and fostering a culture that prioritized excessive productivity metrics over sustainable performance. During the onboarding process, unprofessional conduct was evident, as Human Resources personnel openly discussed other employees who had resigned or been terminated. Additionally, the workplace culture lacked professionalism, with staff frequently engaging in open discussions about colleagues in shared spaces where conversations could easily be overheard. Time management during shifts was also a significant concern. The pace and expectations made it difficult to take basic breaks, including time for hydration or restroom use, which were infrequent despite the physically demanding nature of the work and compensation below $20 per hour. Leadership also appeared inconsistent in their understanding of procedures, resulting in unclear expectations and inadequate training. Several employees, myself included, were not provided with sufficient or standardized training to perform their roles effectively.

Great place to work

Pros

I was able to take a fair maternity leave even though I only worked for them less than a year. The management is also family oriented and understanding when I need days off which is helpful. I work with a caring team which helps. I know it varies by store and who is in management, but the environment at this one I’d say is the best you can get for work! I’ve already discussed the opportunity to move up to team lead and I’m excited to move into that role when I’m fully trained for it. The hiring team knows what they’re doing to keep their store a safe place of inclusivity and care. In my experience, the district manager also does a great job of ensuring the store is ran properly. I have also seen a team lead stand up for a team member who was being harassed based on their race.

Cons

Nothing that has ever come up in my experience.
