Thank you for your feedback. TechSoup’s customer service department offers a welcoming, warm, and cohesive environment. While TechSoup values temporary, short and long-term employees, there are occasions when it’s necessary to bring in new staff members with skills that don’t currently exist in our organization. On those occasions, we leverage this expertise to help upgrade and enhance the skills of existing staff to prepare them for advancement. We are committed to making TechSoup a positive, fulfilling place to work!

Pros

TechSoup has the benefits of a very comfortable and flexible work environment paired with employees who truly believe in the work they are doing. Everyone has a depth of knowledge that is incredible in this sector, and they are a pleasure to work with. More than that, it is a place where you can gain an exceptional diversity of experience in a short amount of time while still making an impact on the lives of others.

Cons

The con is that there is always too much to be done. Everyone is spread thin all the time, and it is very easy to burn out. This is true of nonprofits in general, but I think TechSoup suffers from its desire to be EVERYTHING and do EVERYTHING all at once. It allows the organization to have tremendous impact, but hurts the employees and eventually the organization suffers in the end.

Pros

I truly don't recognize the organization that is being described by some of the posts here. TechSoup does some really amazing and interesting things, and we are in the middle of transforming our technology and processes to modernize and better serve the civil society globally. This is a place where you work hard and can have the opportunity to do great things. I don't think there is a better place to work at the intersection between technology and global social change. The CEO is also great - she's very very smart and knows what she's doing and has done an amazing job balancing some of the very political issues we've had to navigate with different partners and donors.

Cons

Like every organization or business, there are people here who need to move on or are just not right for the job. The organization is trying to move some of those people out (and I have a feeling those are the ones who are being grumpy on this site). It is hard to understand sometimes why certain decisions are made about org direction or new projects, but there are also a lot of people around here who think they need to be informed or consulted and frankly they just don't. This is not a typical nonprofit where everyone gets to weigh in on decisions - we're run more like a for-profit corporation from that perspective where executives make decisions based on information and advice provided to them.
