Company is struggling to transition from small to large business, with padding the wallets of upper management still the #1 focus.
HR is a joke, but has convinced the owner that the problem is everyone else.
Very little recognition outside of your own team. Perfect milestone reviews result in no raise, no thank you, no reward.
No standard process documentation – new employees are trained based on, “This is how I usually do it.”
No clear division of roles – not only are you expected to perform entirely unrelated tasks, you have no idea who to go to for problem resolution. One week, the COO handles that, the next, it’s the Director of WhoKnowsWhat’s responsibility.
Very rarely are the employees made aware that someone has left the company, even those in upper management.
Favoritism is huge. You’ll get new, fancy equipment if the boss man likes you. If not, you’re left with five year old banged up equipment. Make friends with IT. You’ll need them daily.
Oh, and if you have any technical understanding, you’ll get pulled into proposal writing on top of your standard job duties.
