Pros

Excellent Sr. Leadership. They are smart, balanced, talented, and engaged in the business. I continue to respect them, even as a former employee. Teknor offers great peers to work with, overall a really good company to work for from a work and lifestyle perspective. They make you feel like one of the family. Working there under leadership from the RIGHT MANAGER can result in a very fulfilling and rewarding career experience.

Cons

Some "middle managers" (business directors and the occasional VP) are dishonest in their portrayal of those who report to them. Like in many companies, there are middle managers who appear to lack a conscience, and will do or say anything to advance their career, even at the expense of those who report to them. Sadly, Teknor Apex has a few middle level managers like this in place, and they appear to have the ear of the Senior Management Team. Such director level managers do not engage with their subordinates. Instead they ignore them, do not return telephone calls or emails, do not train or guide them on expectations. They leave them to flounder and then end up blaming them, even making up things that are not true. My last manager at Teknor Apex was one of the worst of my career. Teknor's SMT is apparently very much unaware of some of the poor management practices of their director level personal, and how dishonest they can be.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are very good. The people are fairly friendly. HR and Corporate seem to be trying to slowly bring the ownership in to this century.

Cons

No processes in place for training. Middle management is old and lackluster. The company is at least 30yrs behind the times. That's one of the downsides of having the majority of your workforce there for 25+ years. It's like they haven't looked outside their offices since the 80's. Everyone is on auto pilot. Their office technologies are beyond old. They still use Lotus Notes! The people who work in the plant are the last of their breed. Young people want to work in technology, not manufacturing. There's nothing exciting going on and Teknor Apex seems to like it that way. Even their offices are boring. Cubicles of beige in every direction. It takes years to get any change implemented. New hires aren't given much direction and don't know who to go to for training. Everyone passes the buck and nothing ever gets done. I've never seen so much disorganization in a company. It's a miracle they have done as well as they have for so long. Just imagine where they'd be with better processes, more enthusiastic managers, and without the aversion to technology? Penny wise...but very pound foolish. Overall, a safe, boring, soul numbing place to work, with a decent compensation and benefits package. It's the same thing. Day in and day out. This was the dream back in the day...your grandparents day.

Terrible Company

Pros

Great colleagues and flexibility. Truly there are some great folks that work here.

Cons

Management is absolute TRASH. All of them are old as time and have this 1940s work mentality and the CEO is the worst culprit of them all. They have no idea who they want to be as a company. The amount of casual racism, misogyny, and just overall treatment of employees who don’t “Follow the TA way” are ostracized or in this case recently laid off due to a reorganization. No one wants to change or do the right thing. This place is a travesty. Not to mention they GROSSLY underpay employees who actually do the work. Who promotes two individuals to Senior VPs yet cries the poor mouth while laying off employees in the same breath one of whom is the CEOs nephew. Like I said, a whole mess. This place is a literal set out of Mad Men just no smokes or booze.
