(not chem, hem, bb, or micro) Supervisor has never worked in a hospital and lack of experience hurts the lab (last-minute scheduling, inadequate staffing, no shift-to-shift communication for MAJOR changes, significant SOP changes not printed or available on "required" online SOP software, etc). After 2 years, supervisor completely unfamiliar with the SOP and accompanying computer work for our #1 test--has never performed the testing on 3 of the 5 benches. She never tried to learn the assays or expressed any interest in doing so; maybe she does not think it is important? Supervisor is too timid to discipline employees who shout in the lab and act rudely and unprofessionally towards coworkers. Techs are unhappy, the lab is understaffed and we need more people to help cover on-call. Working 16 hours straight when you're called in is exhausting.
