Old School Culture of Intimidation and Scare Tactics

Pros

The people are great as colleagues.

Cons

Fear and intimidation are the new components of our culture. Salaried employees are being tracked whether they show up in the office three times per week. HR is the police, asking for explanations when employees don't hit the three day per week quota.

Pros

Benefits are okay. Kind of expensive but good coverage and good 401k match (but they match with stock). People were generally pleasant to work with.

Cons

If you work in corporate you will be doing three jobs for one salary. In a global role, you are required to run interference across all time zones and your three jobs for one salary turns into slightly more than minimum wage with all of the hours you put in. Also no one will ever say thank you and your bonus will be a fraction of what it should be. Management also will not tell you about the bonus payout if it looks to be less than promised. Everyone was openly looking for a job in lake forest except the executives. The C suite walks around like peacocks. Morale is terrible. People are dropping like flies left and right and they don’t even have jobs to go to AND some of those people were key positions. Read: No Job is better than a job at Tenneco. Senior management made an engagement committee and they are trying to make Tenneco fun to work at. But work cannot be fun when you literally have to do the job of three people for slightly more than minimum wage. the federal mogul integration/spin-off of driv is unpleasant. The two cultures are very different and it kind of feels like working in a case study from your MBA. Also Fox News is always on in the CEOs office which explains to me why there is no diversity in leadership positions.

Swirling Motion of Flushing

Pros

Good pay and close to home. Lots of room for improvement

Cons

Has got to be the tightest company that I have ever seen. The morale is terrible across the board. Little or no profits have been made at the Hartwell location in years. This results in severe tightness in spending. Even if it is critical purchases, they are pushed off till the next month. The facility is a wreck and the upper management will not spend the money to improve conditions. Hope my little ol' fan don't go out, cause they will not be replacing it any time soon. The equipment here is all worn out and no budget for replacement. You can almost feel the swirling motion of the flush coming on. Customers are furious with the company due to product issues. Lots of business moving out soon.
