Pros

As with all State jobs, the benefits are top notch. The salary is competitive with other case management jobs.

Cons

DCS managers go too far in dismissing the employee's personal life. Employees are required be accessed at all times by cell phone whether they are actually on-call or not. Time off, which is earned in benefits is still denied because of overdue assignments, in which the deadlines were unrealistic, to begin with. If one wants to work overtime to meet the deadlines, they will have to work on their own time because overtime is strongly discouraged or denied. Management takes advantage of employees in the name of "safety for the children we serve."

The State of TN is a good place to work. We have very good benfits, we cna build up our sick and annual days. You feel you are helping people within the State of TN.

Cons

Lack of pay for the amount of work completed, as people retire or move on you get more and more work and no more pay. There is little room for advancement in the department I work in. When new employees are hired they are being paid more than seasoned employees.
