Pros

My experience was that there are no Pros working for Tetra Tech which was the worst company I ever worked for.

Cons

The senior management of the company is totally disconnected from the mid-level Program Managers and allows them to treat their subordinates deplorably. Certain Program Managers rule their direct report by fear and intimidation; also they will readily retaliate against any employee who complains.

Pros

This was a family-style firm, with a close-knit culture. The opportunities to learn and grow (albeit within an exisiting role, only) are numerous.

Cons

(1) all management lack people management skills, (2) senior staff have no formal management or business training, (3) no sense of stregy and hence no strategic coordination throughout firm, (4) firm is reactionary and most learning occurs from making mistakes (in some cases detrimental mistakes). All this creates a dis-jointed atmosphere, where parallel projects are common, overhead is not tracked nor managed against. This latter point is significant: without grasping a sense of the cost of operating, no effort is put forward to reduce spending. More importantly, the firm is famous for paying staff rediculously low wages, and not recognizing educational credentials. A very frustrating place to work.

Pros

Diversity of project work. HR and benefits have finally exited the stone ages. Have had surprisingly good reaction to Covid related changes and openness to remote work. There are good projects and managers here, and working on those is as good as any other environmental consulting company.

Cons

This company is big, cumbersome, and feels like it. This company is publicly traded and feels like it. Every office is their own island; every team is an island within the island. Career progression and title progression are slow and archaic. Upper management does a good job at fitting movie stereotypes.
