A Large Scale Civil Engineering Firm with Large Scale Problems
Pros
Decent pay, some staff are skilled and friendly, some roles allow you to largely work from home.
Cons
I can't even think of where to begin with Tetra Tech. The single biggest problem I had with Tetra Tech was their leadership. The upper management of my department were downright laughable when it comes to professionalism. There were times where my upper management would send out nastygrams containing a tantrum befitting a toddler. Complaining and being completely destructive while not knowing exactly what they wanted either. There were times when I worked directly with management, and they were so condescending and treated me like I was a bug. Just completely mean-spirited condescension. They will treat you like an animal at this company and it's simply not worth it. A company is only as good as its leadership - and because of that, this company is completely miserable to work at. I was allowed to work largely from home, however this does little to help with work/life balance because you're constantly getting swarmed with projects and have leadership breathing down your neck and making vapid, amorphous demands that make no sense. I was assigned so many projects where they gave me vague directions on what to do. They didn't know what they were doing, and by extension, neither did I. There was no training, no preparation for their style of formatting or document building. You just get tossed into the fire and if you don't perform you get the boot. Taking time off was treated as a cardinal sin in my department. There are a lot of deadlines, and taking time off is almost never ideal considering this. I had heard rumors that taking time off was a fast way to find yourself without a job. A month after I took some PTO, I got kicked to the curb. I said decent pay in the pros, but it really isn't worth the laundry lists of problems that come with working at this firm. It's a decent wage, but it's hardly what I would call competitive, especially with the economy being the way it is right now. I really have to stress another time how poor management is here. If you want to work with mental toddlers, get a job at this company.
