Pros

The one thing about working at Tetra is that the staff is incredible and there’s a wide range of projects that you gain experience on. If you’re proactive, you can make a lot of internal connections and work on a variety of projects. Definitely wouldn’t get pigeon holed.

Cons

Other than the staff and the variety of projects - this company is TERRIBLE!! While the mid-level managers truly care about their staff, the old white dudes running the company treat everyone as dispensable. Group managers will try to effect change and improve employee morale just to have it turned down by the big wigs. My first group manager left because they were so frustrated that they couldn’t do anything to make their team have better benefits/PTO/swag/team building events because it was ALWAYS turned down by corporate. Last year my division had the best year that they ever had but with held bonuses because the company had lost their USAID contracts. These bonuses were already budgeted for and we still didn’t get them. But who got theirs?? Yep - the big wigs. Corporate will say that each operating unit is its own thing - but it’s not. What happens in one will affect another. Entire teams that have nothing to do with USAID are getting laid off. Also! You have to use your own PTO for holidays, which you only get 2.5 weeks for. They also make you take these holidays off but make you use your own PTO. Something they do not tell you when you’re hired and they’re the only company in the industry that does this. Yearly raises for inflation adjustments do not exist. You have to wait til mid year to argue your case for why you deserve 3%. Bonus structures that they promise for PMs don’t really exist and they will try to prevent you from qualifying for them as well. This another thing that made my group manager quit. Since they do pay higher slightly higher salaries at hiring they think that should be enough motivation. But when you’re working 60 hrs just to keep afloat and have no work/life balance - senior management doesn’t care. Middle management is just waiting for the senior old managers/executives to die/retire so positive change can actually happen. They are holding their breath but these dudes will never retire. They’re money driven and only in it for the profit.
