Pros

Competitive pay; great benefits especially the 401K match; paid time off, tuition reimbursement, flexible schedules, and benefits available for part time staff. I have a lot of autonomy and decision making authority in my job. Administration seems committed to positive change and we have seen remarkable increases in our patient satisfaction scores and safety scores in the past year. Computerized charting (electronic medical record) is wonderful. High performance expectations. Overall professional, collegial work atmosphere. Great to be part of a larger system.

Cons

Smaller hospitals are negatively impacted when new safety programs, regulatory, or compliance requirements come up due to fewer overall support staff in education, etc. Many managers/directors are responsible for multiple clinical departments but have all the same meeting requirements as those at larger hospitals with just one, leading to lots of time away from the hospital. THR needs to open up the purse strings in relation to capital spending on equipment and needs to make integrating all software systems with the EMR a priority.

Pros

This is for the most part a good company with a lot of hard-working employees trying to do the right thing for patients.

Cons

There are pockets of inefficiency and disfunction; leadership in certain departments who view their areas of responsibility as their personal fiefdom - and who never let you forget how little you matter.
