Pros

Love to program and where I work on campus, I can do just that. I'm not constantly micromanaged and there are no useless meetings to attend. I like the people I work with and the work environment is very stress free. Benefits are pretty good. Very good place to work.

Cons

Programming career stalls at Programmer Analyst III position and promotions are almost non-existent unless someone retires or leaves. Compensation can be better. I took off a star for these reasons.

Pros

Unless you really mess up, you are more than likely guaranteed a lifetime career there.

Cons

It's very cliquish and if you ever get on the bad side of anyone in management, you are not likely to have an enjoyable experience. You will be passed over for promotions, raises, etc.
