Pros

Good retention of employees with offering of opportunities for students. Whole town still maintains a very small town-like atmosphere. Decent stipends generally available for graduate students, depending on area. Can be a friendly and helpful atmosphere.

Cons

Superiors are not always as well qualified as they would like to think. Many appointments based more on who they know or who they were before joining the university than what they can actually do. (This is applicable in many of the administrator positions) Egos make it difficult to have any real progress.

Sunny skies, pretty campus, low cost of living.

Cons

Humanities profs are worked to the bone with service courses; they are among the lowest paid in the university. STEM definitely rules.
