Pros

Stable position, good benefits, extra state holidays. Get to help people in need. Great fellow workers. Get to work with people with a heart for people.

Cons

Overworked. Underpayed. No overtime. Mandatory 10% goes to retirement. Not many opportunities for advancement/promotion. Work requirements are unrealistic. Goals continually change. Communication of changes/policy are not very good.

Pros

Decent salary and fully remote work. Felt like a good place to work for the time I was there and all levels of my managers, thought there were at least three at all times, were pretty hands-off and supportive. They expect you to be on committees within your department, but I found this really added to my prospects post-work.

Cons

There is often direction to not be idle and to ask for additional work in down time, but my experience is that even management did not really know what to do with employees who finished their work ahead of time. Not to say some downtime is a bad thing, but it became difficult to explain what I was doing in my daily write-ups when all my tasks were finished within a couple of hours and we needed to write up enough work to fill an eight hour day.

Pros

You can get tuition assistance if you don’t come in with your masters. You won’t get fired because they are looking for anyone who can work with disorder and chaos of those that have been there 8+ years.

Cons

Toxic mid level managers, no opportunity to advance and will gaslight you until quit to get a 2% salary increase. This is not the company for those looking to advance themselves. If you can work well with seeking an extra check, lack of training, chaos, insecure behavior and low wages without chances of a salary increase you’re a great candidate! Don’t say no one told you.
