Pros

Opportunity for advancement if you put in the time

Cons

Typical defense contractor - bureaucratic. But no way around it. DCAA requires layers of process and procedure. However, this is a good way to identify cost savings. This goes back to the Government anyway through discounted rates, but can make company better able to compete for contracts. Challenging in this regard.

Pros

Historically, the company had excellent management and well developed processes. On the up side, the company is only hiring at entry level positions, so advancement from within is possible.

Cons

Historically, the company had excellent management and well developed processes, but times have changed.

Pros

The people are great and extremely knowledgeable due to many years experience. Benefits are good but declining with the rest of corporate America. Pay is good to start but it can be very difficult to remain at market pay as the raises are anemic at best.

Cons

Primary issue is current management and a distinct lack of new work in the pipeline. (This is specific to Textron Defense Systems). There are mass layoffs while simultaneously hiring new people in order to make the workforce more youthful. All this does is disenfranchise everyone there. Management focus's on short term financial goals by eliminating people to enhance profit but at a significant cost to future capability and employee morale. IR&D spending is too small for an organization of this size which has and will continue to stymie growth.
