Challenging but rewarding

Pros

The Axel Group is similar to many other staffing companies. The industry as a whole is extremely competitive, and NOT FOR EVERYONE. If you want to work hard, and be compensated for your hard work, this is a great place to be. If you want to be challenged and held accountable, and reap the benefit of doing so, this is a great place to be. If you want to work for and with people that care about your personal and professional development, this is a great place to be. There are a lot of comments about work/life balance. This is a SALES role - the more effort and time you put in, the more earning potential you have. That being said, the job is able to be completed within our core hours (8:30-5:30pm with 3pm dismissal on Fridays - not even a 40 hour work week). We work 5 days in the office - this is stated several times during the three round interview process. We have the flexibility to take care of things when we need to, work from home on occasion etc. Management is very accommodating in this sense. Staffing is not for everybody! There is nothing wrong with that - if you don't want to work hard and be accountable, there are much easier jobs out there. This job is exactly as it was described to me in my interview, it was just up to me to make the most out of it.

Cons

Staffing is a tough industry!

Pros

Great stepping stone and way to learn about the corporate world and gain experience. Nice office and location.

Cons

Fully in office, expected to arrive early and stay late when hours are already demanding. Expectations to speak with candidates on weekends or when you just sit down for dinner making it hard to get away from work when home. Management is great IF you are well liked and perform well quickly. If you fall short or hit a lull it’s almost as if some management doesn’t even want to look in your direction. They invest in people who ramp up quickly but otherwise you’ll get the hardest positions to fill that sometimes feel impossible because 3 other people had already worked on it. Sales is hard and not for everyone and may be demanding but many other companies give their employees more flexibility in their lives than this one does. Unlimited PTO is a hoax because make you feel bad for taking it

Pros

It was a great stepping stone into the industry, I learned a lot.

Cons

I was let go out of the blue, without my manager knowing. I was not on a performance improvement plan. I was not given any reason for why I was being let go, and when I asked for more information, the CEO said, "I've already spoken more than I typically do." I was also told to pack up my desk that day, I couldn't even talk to any of my candidates that were actively interviewing. It was very hurtful, and I didn't get any closure.
