- Lack of structure and organization. Cannot emphasize this enough.
- Lower pay than industry (but other benefits/PTO make up for it in my opinion).
- Not very open to remote work. Even for post-COVID planning there is a huge push to bring everyone back in, despite more people wanting remote flexibility.
- Matrixed organization can be great for collaboration and innovation, but not great for ownership, decision making, and driving projects/initiatives to completion.
- No clear delineation between roles. Job descriptions are often 3 roles rolled into one, leaving people too scattered and unfocussed. Too much fluidity (great for innovation and learning something new, not great for focus).
