Pros

- Team and managers genuinely care for each other and enjoy the work they do. - Academic environment, feels like I'm getting paid to learn. - Many professional development opportunities. - Tons of time off. - Every day is different.

Cons

- Lack of structure and organization. Cannot emphasize this enough. - Lower pay than industry (but other benefits/PTO make up for it in my opinion). - Not very open to remote work. Even for post-COVID planning there is a huge push to bring everyone back in, despite more people wanting remote flexibility. - Matrixed organization can be great for collaboration and innovation, but not great for ownership, decision making, and driving projects/initiatives to completion. - No clear delineation between roles. Job descriptions are often 3 roles rolled into one, leaving people too scattered and unfocussed. Too much fluidity (great for innovation and learning something new, not great for focus).
